Onirim

Designer: Shadi Torbey

Artwork:  Elise Plessis & Philippe Guerin

Theme:  The first Oniverse title leads you through a labyrinth.  Will you wander in each room, hoping to find the door that will take you further, or will you let chance sort things out and trust in your luck?  In both cases, you will have to deal with the slithering night mares, which haunt the hallways of the labyrinth.

How It Plays

  • Game Mechanics:  This is a solo card game.  The player navigates a dream world to find and unlock 8 doors.  The doors are found and opened by playing three different cards of that color in row or by playing a matching key with the door.  When nightmare cards are drawn the player must discard cards to deal with it.  The object is to open all 8 doors before going through the deck once.
  • Turn Summary:
    1. Play or Discard a card
      • Play a card - Play a location card down representing the section of the labyrinth being explored.  Cards played next to each other must have different symbols.  If three cards of the same color are played in a row, search the deck for a matching door of that color to play down then reshuffle the deck.
      • Discard a card - Discard 1 card to the discard pile.  If the discarded card is a key card,  the player draws the next five card from the deck, discarding one of them and placing the others on top of the deck in any order.
    2. Fill your hand
      • Draw a card from the deck -
        • Sun, Moon and Key location cards are added to hand.
        • If it is a door card, the player may discard a key card of the same color to play down the door.  If the player doesn't have or want to play a matching key card, put the door card into the limbo pile.
        • If the drawn card is a dream card, the player must do one of the following:
          1. Discard a key card.
          2. Place one of the gained door cards into the limbo pile.
          3. Draw the top 5 cards, discarding location cards and placing door and dream cards into the limbo pile.
          4. Discard entire hand, draw a new hand of 5 location cards placing any drawn door or dream cards into the limbo pile.
    3. Shuffle the limbo pile - Shuffle all cards placed in the limbo piles back into the deck.
  • Victory:  The game is won if all 8 door cards are in play.  The game is lost if the player needs to draw a card but the draw deck is empty.
