How It Plays

  • Game Mechanics:  This is a cooperative, action point, hand management game.  Players get 3 action points to spend on their turn to move, exchange cards, and shore up flooded island tiles.  The 4 treasures are captured by being on one of the 2 matching tiles and turning in 4 matching treasure cards.  At the end of each turn, flood cards are drawn and the matching island tiles are flooded.
  • Turn Summery:
    1. Take up to 3 of the following actions:
      • Move pawn to an adjacent island tile. Missing tiles can not be moved on or over.
      • Shore up an adjacent flooded tile by flipping it to its non-flooded side.
      • Give a treasure card to a player with a pawn on the same tile.
      • Capture a treasure by discarding 4 matching treasure cards while on an island tiles with the matching treasure symbol.
    2.  Draw 2 treasure cards.
      • Any time a player has 6 or more cards they must discard down to 5.
      • If a waters rise card is drawn, move the water level marker up one mark on the water meter. Take all the cards from the flood deck discard pile, shuffle and return them to the top of the deck.  Discard the waters rise card.
    3.  Draw the number of cards shown on the water level meter from the flood deck.  Flood the corresponding island tiles by flipping them to their flooded side.  If a tile is already flooded, that tile sinks.  The tile and flood card are removed from the game.  Any pawns that are on a tile that is removed, swim to an adjacent tile.  If there are no adjacent tiles the game is lost.
  • Game End/Victory:
    • The game is won if all 4 treasures are captured, all adventurer pawns move to Fools Landing, and a helicopter lift card is discarded.
    • The game is lost if both tiles with matching treasure symbols sink before the treasure is collected.
    • The game is lost if Fools Landing sinks.
    • The game is lost if any player is unable to swim to an adjacent tile after the tile under them sinks.
    • The game is lost if the water level reaches the skull and crossbones.
